“Thailand Wins 6th Best Rice Title, While Market Achievement Award Goes To Mr. Rajiv Kumar (Executive Director Of The Rice Exporters Association Of India)

“Thailand wins 7th “The Rice Trader World’s Best Rice” title in 2021, while “The Rice Trader - Lifetime Achievement Award” Goes to The Rice Exporters Association’s (India) Rajiv Kumar in recognition of India’s meteoric rise in rice exports, cumulating with 2021’s record export performance

The 13th The Rice Trader – World Rice Conference 2021, with a return to a physical event, which was further tweaked to become the first hybrid event in the series, continued the tradition of bringing a who’s who attendance from the global rice industry. Led by Platinum Sponsors – Farm Angel as headline sponsors, and a long list of sponsors as listed below, featured a satellite event held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam as well as smaller gatherings in Thailand and Myanmar to continue its path as the world’s most established global rice trade gathering. The event climaxed late Thursday morning (Dubai time) with the announcement of the much-anticipated TRT World’s Best Rice 2021 award, as well as the annual recognition for TRT Lifetime Achievement 2021 award.

Conference Chairman, Jeremy Zwinger, President, and CEO of the leading rice market news and analysis company, The Rice Trader, delivered the awards. Chef Paul Schroeder, who once again led the judging panel describe it as “a regular feature at the contest, with quality and flavor consistencies over a number of years now highlighting Thailand’s winning submission”. The conference awards ceremony is also known for recognizing personalities from the global rice industry who have contributed significantly to the industry. This year’s recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award was Mr. Rajiv Kumar, Executive Director of The Rice Exporters Association, India, in honor of India’s record exports in 2021, and how the country rallied to aid global markets with food supplies that have not only aided the poor in India but have etched a strong position in several global destination markets where India’s presence in rice exports is a welcome presence in global markets. The award was presented to Mr. Kumar by Jeremy Zwinger, President and CEO of The Rice Trader, who went on to praise India as a country, for what has been two years of efforts in delivering food security to India, as well as to contribute a significant role in ensuring rice supplies in the global market.

The 13th The Rice Trader World Rice Conference is the first hybrid event from the organizers of the world’s leading forum for rice industry professionals. The event emphasizes the global rice trade, with a strong reputation in bringing leaders from the rice industry and 2021 event was an effort to resume physical meetings, though an online option was maintained as the pandemic left market participants facing various levels of challenges in travel. The 2021 audience representing over 180 physical participants and some 50 delegates at a satellite event in Vietnam (as pictured) as well as 150 delegates online, as the event continued to represent a global interest with delegates coming from more than 28 countries.
